Protecting your privacy is a core principle of WirNear. From the very beginning, WirNear has been designed to enable meaningful social proximity without exposing users’ exact locations or collecting unnecessary personal data.

2. Privacy Principles

WirNear processes personal data strictly in accordance with the following principles:

• Data minimization – only data that is technically and functionally necessary
• Purpose limitation – no hidden or secondary use of data
• Transparency – clear information about all processing activities
• Privacy by Design & Privacy by Default
• No sale of personal data

3. Categories of Personal Data Processed

3.1 Profile Data

• Display name
• Profile picture
• Voluntary interest information
• Visibility, group, and contact settings

3.2 Location Data (Sensitive Data)

• Location data is processed exclusively to determine whether other users are located within a radius defined by the user
• Exact location data is neither stored nor shared with other users
• No movement profiles or tracking histories are created
• Location access is used only with explicit user consent

3.3 Communication and Interaction Data

• Chat messages
• Pings and connection requests
• Reports submitted via the reporting function
• Blocking actions

3.4 Story Content (Ephemeral Content)

WirNear allows users to upload so-called Stories, which may include photos, videos, or text.

• Stories are visible only for a limited period of time
• Stories can be deleted by the user at any time
• Stories are automatically removed after no more than 14 days
• Deleted content is removed immediately from the user interface

Complete technical deletion from backup systems occurs within a reasonable and proportionate timeframe.

3.5 Usage and Technical Data

• App version
• Device type and operating system
• Error logs and performance data (used solely to ensure stability, security, and functionality)

4. Purposes of Processing

Personal data is processed exclusively for the following purposes:

• Operating and providing the core functionality of the WirNear app
• Displaying nearby contacts within the selected radius
• Enabling communication between users
• Ensuring platform safety, moderation, and abuse prevention
• Improving the app during test and production phases

5. Legal Bases for Processing

WirNear processes personal data on the following legal bases:

• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – user consent
• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests in ensuring security, stability, and preventing misuse

6. Processors and Sub-Processors

WirNear uses carefully selected technical service providers (e.g. hosting, infrastructure, push notification services).

• All processors act solely on our instructions
• All processors are bound by data processing agreements in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR
• No personal data is disclosed to third parties for advertising purposes without explicit user consent

7. Future Monetization and Advertising Transparency

WirNear may introduce optional features in the future, including:

• In-app purchases
• Advertising
• Interest-based or location-related offers from local partners

In all cases:

• No personalized advertising without explicit user consent
• No sharing of exact or derived location data with advertisers
• This Privacy Policy will be updated before any such features become active

8. Data Retention

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary:

• to fulfill the purposes outlined above, or
• until the user deletes their account

Upon account deletion, personal data is deleted unless legal retention obligations apply.

• Rectify inaccurate data
• Request erasure of their data
• Restrict processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent at any time
